Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous oxide, also known as “laughing gas,” is sometimes used in pediatric dentistry to help kids relax during dental procedures. The dentist will place a small mask over your child’s nose, and they’ll breathe in a mix of nitrous oxide and oxygen. It doesn’t put them to sleep, but it helps them feel more at ease and less anxious. It’s a bit like taking a deep breath to calm down when feeling nervous. The effects wear off quickly once the mask is removed, so your child can go back to feeling normal soon after the procedure is done. It’s a safe and effective way to make dental visits more comfortable for kids.
